About

Spanish and ESL Teacher, Educator, Author, Life-long Learner

I hold a Master of Arts in Teaching Spanish Language and Hispanic Cultures from the University of Alcalá in Spain, where I am currently pursuing my doctoral degree in the School of Linguistics, Literature, and Theater Studies. I also hold a Bachelor of Arts in Teaching English and ESL from the Pontifical Catholic University of Argentina in Buenos Aires.

For over thirty years, I have taught English and Spanish to learners of all ages, from elementary students to postgraduate professionals. My teaching experience includes English Grammar courses in teacher training programs at the Catholic University and the University of El Salvador in Buenos Aires, as well as Medical Spanish at the postgraduate level in the United States. My work with physician assistant students at the Graduate School of Medical Sciences (PA Program) at Barry University in Miami Shores led to the publication of McGraw-Hill’s Quick and Easy Medical Spanish, a practical guide to essential Spanish for healthcare settings.

The dedication and passion I bring to my classes have been consistently reflected in my students’ motivation, engagement, and feedback. In 2016, I was honored to receive the Xperitas Language Matters Award from the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese (AATSP), in recognition of my contributions to language education.

In recent years, I have been actively involved in the AATSP through the National Spanish Examinations Leadership Council (NSELC), serving as an exam writer and participating in scholarship selection committees. Additionally, I served as President of the AATSP Texas-Brazos Chapter, where I focused on expanding membership, organizing professional development workshops, and supporting teachers with the administration of the National Spanish Examination (NSE). Under my leadership, the chapter received the 2023 Chapter of the Year Award and was recognized as a 2023 Best Chapter Website finalist, a website I designed and managed until 2025.

In June 2024, I was appointed AATSP Exams / National Spanish Exam Director, a role in which I am dedicated to fostering excellence, equity, and innovation in world language assessment.” I am also deeply committed to serving the profession through teacher associations and collaborative projects. I firmly believe that collaboration is essential to enrich our work as educators and to expand opportunities for both teachers and students.
