Spanish and ESL Teacher, Educator, Author, Life-long Learner

Claudia Kechkian brings over 30 years of experience in world language education. She is a Ph.D. Candidate in Applied Linguistics at the University of Alcalá, in Spain, where her research focuses on the pedagogical integration of authentic materials, particularly social media as a curricular extension, including the use of artificial intelligence in language learning. She holds a Master’s degree in the Teaching of the Spanish Language and Hispanic Cultures from the University of Alcalá and a B.A. in ESL from the Pontifical Catholic University of Argentina. She is also a published author, with vast contributions in the Medical Spanish field through Spanish for Specific Purposes curriculum design and her book McGraw-Hill’s Quick and Easy Medical Spanish.
Claudia currently serves as AATSP Exams Director, is the founder of Virtuolingua World Language Consulting, and collaborates with universities on professional development initiatives. She has been actively involved with the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese (AATSP) for over a decade as an exam writer and scholarship reviewer for the National Spanish Exam (NSE). She previously served as President of the AATSP-TX Brazos Chapter, leading initiatives in membership growth and professional development. Under her leadership, the chapter was named 2023 Chapter of the Year, and as Social Media Coordinator, she contributed to the chapter receiving the 2023 Best Chapter Website Award.
